COVD-19 has forced many businesses to send their employees home to work. While many businesses are reopening and people are returning to work, there are many people still working from home with flexible arrangements. To help you work from home securely, read on.
Use the devices that the company gave you. Most workplace devices have the right security precautions in place to protect data and employees. Don’t let anyone else in the household use these devices.
Use strong passwords. All devices and accounts – work and personal – should implement the use of strong passwords. Avoid writing down the passwords or making them predictable. Instead, use a combination of upper and lower case characters, special characters, and numbers. If possible, enforce two-factor authentication.
Encrypt data, your drive, and your connection. If you don’t already encrypt your drive, do so now. Use a virtual private network (VPN) even when you’re at home because your family’s devices may not be 100% secure. If your workplace doesn’t provide a VPN, ask them for one.
