How to Stay Healthy During the Winter

The cold weather often brings colds and flues, but is there a way we can stay healthy throughout winter?

Immunity and cleanliness go hand in hand. When the temperatures drop and the windows and doors stay shut, we create a paradise for viruses who thrive on stagnant air and the general messiness of people. If your immune system is not ready to tackle an invasion of viruses, you are very likely to catch the latest pathogen to hit town. And we all know how terrible it feels to get sick. Here are a few tips and tricks you can use around your house to reduce your levels of contamination and stay healthy during the winter.

  1. The Flu Shot
Influenza can affect anyone. Luckily, scientists have created a vaccine to combat the two or three viruses that you are most likely going to get that year. Talk to your doctor about getting the flu vaccine as there are certain individuals (like young babies and seniors) who may have immune deficiencies. (And don’t worry, vaccines DO NOT cause autism.)
  2. Hand Soap & Sanitizer
Coughing and sneezing spread viruses to hands, which then touch phones, keyboards, door handles, and more. Make sure to wash your hands after every cough or sneeze and make sure to wash your hands or clean them with sanitizer.
  3. Join a Club
While physical well-being is important, your mental health is equally important. Creating friendship is proven to lower stress levels and the stronger your bonds, the healthier you will be. Use your hobbies and the internet to find the clubs you like and join them.

The winter does not have to be a time of sickness and sadness with these tips.
